Traditional recommendation engines rely on a user's past purchase history, but gifting involves buying for someone else, often with zero prior behavioral signals. To solve this "cold start" problem, we are building a sophisticated, multi-layered Al architecture that understands the semantic nuance and emotional context of human relationships.

Backed by the prestigious NVIDIA Inception startup program, we are moving fast to scale a platform that captures a massive, untapped segment of the global gifting market. The Opportunity

We are looking for a Founding Senior Engineer to join us at the ground level. As an early technical pillar of the company, you will have a massive impact on our product, architecture, and engineering culture.

Transparency note: This is a strictly equity-based role for the first 3 to 6 months. We are currently preparing for our next fundraising round. Upon a successful raise, this role will transition to a highly competitive cash + equity compensation package. If you are a builder who wants to own a significant piece of a highly scalable, Al-native commerce platform before the valuation jumps, this is for you. What You Will Build

You will be instrumental in scaling our core platform and expanding the capabilities of Charis, our Al-powered gift assistant built on a utility agent framework. Your work will span across:

Semantic Data Layers: Scaling our unified semantic and operational data layer using MongoDB Atlas with native vector search.

• Advanced Al Integration: Implementing and optimizing contextual metadata classification using Transformer models (like DeBERTa) to analyze emotional tone, occasion relevance, and recipient alignment.

Recommendation Engines: Enhancing our collaborative filtering models (User-User, Item-Item, and Hybrid) using tools like LightFM to learn from user gift choices.

Next-Gen Capabilities: Leading the charge on our upcoming features, including Multi-Modal vector embeddings (understanding preferences from images) and real-time trending personalization.

The Tech Stack & Requirements

We need a true Full-Stack engineer who is just as comfortable building seamless user interfaces as they are deploying complex machine learning pipelines in production.

Frontend & Backend: Deep expertise in Node.js and React to build tast, responsive, and intuitive user experiences.
Database Architecture: Strong hands-on experience with MongoDB (specifically Atlas for unified operational and vector search operations).
Al & Machine Learning: Strong implementation background with PyTorch and Transformers.
Search & Discovery: Production experience building
Vector DB-RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) pipelines and working with multi-modal vectors.
Recommendation Systems: Proven experience implementing collaborative filtering algorithms (e.g., LightFM). Who You Are
